Controlling Your Diet

It kind of goes without saying that what you eat is a big part of controlling your weight. What a lot of people don’t realize is that there is more to controlling your diet than just limiting the number of calories you eat. A big thing that helped me was to have set eating hours.

My eating hours are 7am – 7pm. I have my first meal at 7am and my last at 7pm. Eating first thing in the morning gives my metabolism a boost and gives me energy for the day. Eating no later than 7pm allows my body to digest before going to sleep at night.

Another big thing is to make sure you balance protein, carbs and fats. This weight loss program I followed taught me that a certain percentage of each kind of food was very important. It was nice to know that I could actually eat some carbs and fats and still lose weight!

Get Lots of Sleep

Something else I learned when I was learning how to reduce tummy fat was that the amount of sleep you get can effect your weight loss. Your metabolism can go down if you don’t get enough sleep each night.

Another thing about sleeping is that when you are asleep, you aren’t eating! Simple right? I know when I stayed up late watching a movie or talking to friends, I would always get the munchies. Those late night snacks are not good when you’re trying to lose weight!

There’s also some research that’s been done that says that lack of sleep makes it harder for your body to produce the chemical that lets you know when you’re full.

Do Some Simple Exercises

I hate exercise as much as the next girl, but exercises can go a long ways in helping to reduce your tummy. The most important thing about exercise is to make sure that you get your heart pumping. I didn’t do any special exercises to reduce love handles. I just did things that got my heart rate up.

Why is exercise so helpful to lose weight? This biggest thing is that you burn more calories when you exercise. Something as simple as walking around the neighborhood each night for 30 minutes can help you lose a few extra pounds each month.

Just by following those simple guidelines, I actually lost weight. There’s wasn’t anything complicated about it. Anytime someone asks me how to reduce love handles, there are the steps that I tell them.
